The Mission of RoRo's Toy Box

We started mid 2023 when we realised just how much baby items you accumulate and never actually use, figuring we could get back a little something that we had spent and someone else could get a nice new item at a fraction of the price.

Then we started looking into it a little deeper, for instance did you know  that about 90% of all toys are made of plastic, making the toy industry one of the most plastic-intensive sectors in the world and an estimated 80% of all plastic children's toys end up in landfills, incinerators, or oceans globally. Many plastic toys are used for an average of just six months before children lose interest or outgrow them, and nearly a third of parents admit to throwing away fully working toys.

So it became something more than just trying to get back a little of what we spent. After about a year of using the usual selling platforms of Facebook and Vinted, we teamed up with pop up indoor children's markets. We started taking donations from family and friends, intercepting items heading for land fill. With a little TLC and some minor repairs 99% of everything we have had donated ends up being reloved by another child.

Now we are attempting to take it one step further, rather than keeping it local we are trying to reach a larger audience, creating an actual business of trying to keep everyone's unwanted items from landfill.

Please think twice before throwing away toys. Donate, if not to us I'm sure there are many places in your community that would appreciate some preloved items. Doctors, hospital & dentist waiting rooms, day-care providers, local run cafes, even the child next door might love something new to them. Just because you child is done with it doesn't mean the next child wont love it just as much.
